Not quite a perfect day

The light, the dogwoods, the young people in the streets: perfect day.

Me: I’ve been “off” all day. Vaguely headachy, fatigued, nauseated. Worn out from emotion, I expect. It has been an intense couple of weeks.

So I did the perfect thing. I have a few Martin Parr books from the library, and I studied them. He’s a genius. His work makes me laugh. He’s great with color, crowds, human absurdities and vulnerabilities. If you go to his website and click on the “recent” tab, you’ll find an agricultural show, a beach, a festival, a trip to Spain. It will buoy you up if you’re not feeling well. It did me, anyway. He often focuses on an unimportant detail and leaves the main story out of focus. I’ve never seen that done by anyone else, but he does it brilliantly. I was going for that here, but in this case it’s too subtle. His images are knock-outs.
