The Project Begins

Today was my first Sitting with someone other than Sue who is willing to participate in the Old Women photographic project I envision, described here. This photo of Sandy is a candid I made while we weren’t working on the project (I won’t be Blipping photos made for the project).

Sandy has a rich life as an oral historian, university teacher, expert in labor union history, environmentalist, local radio station producer, and collector. She published a book in 2003 composed of oral history she conducted with a woman who lived in the very building where I now live, and she has done some ground-breaking work, creating a narrative from multiple oral histories. She showed me a photograph of an oral history group she belonged to, about a dozen women, photo made in 1982. Her work might be of interest to blipper My Day Today, who also does oral history.
