Second In Class
Described by her owners, Holland America, as a modern beauty, the Nieuw Statendam, second in class of their Pinnacle Class ships anchored in the bay this morning.
Carrying mostly U.S citizens I’m not sure how many of her 2,355 passengers or 973 crew got ashore but Paddy and I on our 3 hour, 6.25 mile, walk never saw a single red baseball cap.
Let’s hope that however many landed enjoyed their time in Cornwall and return to the ‘Land of Tariffs’ enriched by the experience.
6.25 miles walking and in completely contrasting weather to yesterday the sun shone and it was shirt sleeve weather. Our first long walk of the year took us to familiar stopping points, meeting people we knew and just relaxing. Good to see the town filling with holidaymakers and the traders making a living.
Paddy walked way more than I, off the lead for a large proportion of the walk he raced around the coastal path, rockpooled, ran all over the beach around the point and ran the perimeter of Boscawen Field at least twice. Inquisitive and fun he brings me joy every day.
Last part of the walk was with fellow Blipper Roly and two of her four, Bella and Red, good to see them.
Mrs S remains unwell, worryingly so, unlike her to be poorly for more than a day or so, speedy recovery.
