Pasque

Again that early morning inner tussle but today getting up at 6.30 won. I was glad it did as the pool was very quiet, being a holiday, for some. Demonstrated how many swim early before work and who presumably today were enjoying a long lie.

Another gloomy, dark, dreich, cold day. The car was showing 1 deg and warning me off ice. I sat with a wrap and socks on in the front room but eventually had to succumb and put on the heating on. The house was less than 16 deg.

It's odd having to work too do, or think about. I did some personal messaging and after a lot of young and growing ordered a fly screen for the back door. It cost as much as buying the bits to improve my home made one. Outside it remained cold, dark and gloomy with intermittent rain.. I sewed some more.

After lunch, soup, I headed up to Straiton to buy flowers for M. It took ages, there was so much traffic. Of course it's a holiday. I then took ages to choose the right combination, augmented it with some eggs of the chocolate variety which meant I got to Mortonhall just before 3 to meet M.

As usual we had a very long chat over my free hot drinks and put the world to rights. Then I got my free herb, golden marjoram, a card for M and some carrot seeds.

Having heard the Food Programme extolling the health benefits of cheese earlier I went in past Margiotta to buy some plus some tulips for Mum, and me. Sat outside first to hear the whole of the interview with Lord Sumption explaining why he thinks people, including the Chair of Equalities and Human Rights Commission are over interpreting that decision. He sounded very sensible about what is a very limited legal point..

When I got home there was an email from cousin D. If been thinking about contacting him all week and strangely had been talking to M about him earlier.

Gave up the sewing as the one thread stitches are so small I need really good light, replied to D, who is off to Turkey, golfing, tomorrow, had oatcakes, cheese and wine for dinner and watched mindless TV. Gave up after HIGNFY and went to bed.

I'd thought I'd get a blip of the hills when I was out but it was too gloomy so grabbed a couple of pasque flowers at the back. The ones at the front are over.

It feels very weird to not have anything to do. Another 4 days stretch out in front of me.
