Little yellow pick me ups...
Just before I went to bed last night my left eye started watering, left nostril running and my throat felt scratchy. Tried to ignore it and did my best to fall asleep. Woke at 4.30am and a horrible cold had descended. Damn!
Back to sleep till my alarm went off at 7.30am. D was already up and getting dressed when I woke again. My head felt very heavy and I took up D's suggestion to have a cuppa and go back to sleep if I could. Next time I woke up it was 11.55am so it was definitely the right decision.
My head was a bit clearer and I felt a bit better once I was showered and dressed. I sound worse than I feel (giving off Lee Marvin vibes :-). I am sure I'll be fine for tomorrow but messaged the troops incase they want to avoid me. Turns out my nephew Andrew also has the cold so we can sit in the corner together :-)
Thankfully the prep is virtually all done and all I had left to do today was make the meat part of the pasta dish for tomorrow so set about doing that.
In the end I decided to go with this pasta dish as it's the one they will all enjoy the most. My brother in law and my nephew are notoriously picky eaters and are suspicious of anything that resembles veg in a dish and I felt they would pick at the other ones I thought about making . I chopped the veg very tiny in this dish and it's almost invisible, so by the time the pasta is added, it should be acceptable.
Also prepared the strawberries and melon. I will put the smoked salmon platter together tomorrow morning and the salad, then they can wait patiently in the fridge till dinner.
The rest of today has been spent with my feet up conserving my energy for tomorrow.
I let Lola into the back garden this afternoon and was so cheered by the sight of all the daffodils nodding in the breeze. Will get D to cut some of them tomorrow to spread some spring joy in the house.
Now D has just made me a cup of tea and we are going to attempt to watch an episode of Grace. I suspect I won't make it past the opening credits.
Hope you are all having a lovely weekend.
Happy Birthday LeeAnne! :-))) xx
