The Last Jump…..

A large part of the Taylor Reserve lies along the true left bank between the Burleigh Bridge and Doctors Creek. It is known locally as the Pony Club Grounds. But the Pony Club is long gone…. (Apart from an old building)…..and now has a more suitable venue out in rural Marlborough. However the last jump remains between two mighty poplar trees and is perilously close to Doctor’s Creek. I often imagine many past parents watching, with their hearts in their mouths, as their off-spring, on their ponies, flew over that jump and narrowly missed being dumped in the creek.
