Bonsai
Another fine day for a walk on the moor.
I headed out along Baildon Bank, continuing up to Shipley Glen where the tramway was busy with bank holiday weekend visitors. Then along to the far end of the Glen before taking the path up Glovershaw Beck, taking care to avoid the guard cat (extra) and then back up over the moor through Green Hairstreak territory so that I could do another survey.
In addition to the Green Hairstreaks (30+ recorded) there were plenty of Peacock and a few Large White, Speckled Wood, Small White, Small Tortoiseshell and Orange-tip butterflies.
Today’s main image is a typical Shipley Glen scene. This old, bonsai-like oak, growing out from the gritstone, is a favourite, and it was nice to catch it just coming into leaf creating a nice shadow pattern on the rock.
