Salvage from the Wreckage

Canitrail RAID Day 2

Awake early.
Strike camp.
Porridge pot.
After yesterday, Laura was going to take the direct route to the end. And Jo decide to use the offered shortcut that would cut out a big descent and ascent. So Luna and I split from the team and the day was a proper run (22k).
As the start time approached, all the dogs started barking. Luna carried on for the first K!
After about 4 or 5k, she wasn’t sure about carrying on but when we were overtaken, she decided to go for it. We gradually overtook people and dogs until we settled down running the second half with these two.
About 2:43 for 21.6k - a slow run but not bad given the terrain, amount of ascent and carrying a backpack.
At the finish, Laura was already waiting with no ill affects. I offered to fetch tea and sausage rolls from the Greggs we had driven past on the way to the start. Turned out to be a long way away by foot! I regretted it.

Once Jo arrived, we drove for 45 mins to our accommodation. By which time we were all stiff. A bath, a roast meal. Another bath! Bed.
