A sudden change in
weather brought us a gorgeous
morning to enjoy

After yesterday's miserable showing for weather, I went to bed last night with no hope that today would be improved. I was so surprised to find sunshine lighting up my house after 6. I had to get out there!!

When I feel the need to retreat from city life I take the short drive out to Tranquille to check on the wetlands and the wildlife. One track was filled with a very long freight which dashed my hopes of spotting big horn sheep. I continued on to a view of Tranquille behind the wetlands pond.

I drove to the end of the road to discover just one osprey on the nest this morning. All was quiet there and it was a chilly 6 C in spite of the sunshine. I found several pairs of sandhill cranes grazing along the edge of the pond. I wondered what they'd found to eat. There were just two pelicans huddled at the far end of the pond. I can see that the pond is very shallow as the pelicans seem to be wading.

I caught several views into the wetland and over to the river. I found a heron perched on a fallen tree. It was looking out over the waterways, too. My last shot was looking east over the pond to my mountains.

I'm home enjoying the last day of our Easter long weekend. I'm sad to hear of the passing of Pope Francis. He had such a heart for people.
