Blipmeet #2

This is Kevinmcc, who lives in Seattle and was passing through Portland today and organized a small blipmeet through the Forum. LaurieT and I met with him at a coffee shop. He made himself easy to find by wearing sunglasses enhanced with flashing lights and carrying a whiteboard that said Kevinmcc. He also brought along a sack of visual aids: photographic props and albums of his photographs.

Kevin is currently working as a wedding photographer at what he calls “the budget end,” and he and I have quite different approaches to photography and processing. He says he likes fairly extensive processing; for example he removes cigarette butts, pine needles, and random grasses that may be growing on a pavement where he’s shooting. I prefer a more documentary approach, but in honor of his photographic values, I have done a bit of work on this portrait, cloning out the people in the background. This is not nearly as easy with Aperture (which I use) as it is with other kinds of software (which he uses), but that's not a good excuse. It is bracing to meet people who are different from ourselves and to think about the work we do from different perspectives.
