Staircase Window

I visited an old friend today, who has moved into a new flat. New for her, that is - the house was built in 1907, and has many lovely Jugendstil features, like these stained-glass windows in the staircase. 

I admired more details in her flat, like the original brass door and window handles. Even the glass panes in the windows are original - slightly uneven, and very pretty, but single. The lack of insulation made the lovely living room a cool place to sit all evening, and I was happy to return home to our modern, boring  functional, warm house.
