All Saints Church Henley Brook
We drove out to Guildford again today and I was keen to visit the oldest church in Western Australia. The All Saints Church in Henley Brook had been built by my Great Great Grandfather Richard Edwards over three painstaking years. The little church has been hosting services since 1841.
Unfortunately the church was locked, but it was still wonderful to wander through the grounds and look at some of the gravestones of pioneers who played such a significant role in developing the colony.
I do find it difficult to comprehend why so many white Australians consider that our history actually started with colonisation. It's as if the rich history of our amazing indigenous people is of little consequence. I can't remember ever being taught anything in school either primary or high school about their history.
