Life is a Challenge!

WIDE WEDNESDAY - LIFE - OR NEW LIFE, IN FACT!

I thought I had first blipped the trees in the top photograph about 3 or 4 years ago, but it appears that it was on 1st March 2017 - so 8 years ago - how time flies!

In fact, if you read my journal entry then - and I even wrote a poem about the demise of the tree -  you will see that the Aspen tree was being cut down, obviously because it had become dangerous - and a lot of people walked along the path quite close to it, so the Council had decided it needed to be felled.

Recently, whenever we drove past or walked along the path, I thought I needed to take another photograph, because the tree had sprouted so well and has now grown quite tall - in fact, there are several trees now that have grown from the stumps.

Sadly, the weather was rather dull and grey, but just after lunch, the sun came out, so I went back over and took more photographs with a brighter sky - only a dedicated Blipper would do that!!  However, you can see how bright the leaves are, even on a dull day especially in the sunshine.  At last I am “on theme”, before I even looked, as there is plenty of new life here.  You can see in the top shot in my extra collage, how the Aspen had spread - this was a shot from 2017 - and you can even see one of the workmen in a high viz jacket.

The second shot in my triptych are the horse chestnut trees on Snodshill Roundabout, the island/roundabout just at the back of our house, and which we can see from our bedroom window - and I left the road sign in so that you can see what it is.  I'm so glad I went back over once the sun came out and you can see there are a lot of trees.  A few years ago, the Council trimmed off the branches lower down the trunks and this meant that the trees had space to grow and we have noticed more of the “candle” blossoms on them over the last few years and there have also been more daffodils underneath them.

Last but not least in the triptych, is another little copse of horse chestnut trees on the opposite side of the road, also visible from our bedroom window, but these are just allowed to grow as and where they like - and they always get me a good Blip in the autumn when the conkers are about.

In my entry on 1st March 2017, I mentioned the “dead” oak tree in the middle of a small lake that had formed.  In fact, you will see two photographs at the bottom in my extra collage - the one on the left is the tree back in 2017 and on the right is the tree as it is today - it has certainly grown although it still looks quite stark and interesting.  Although it never appears to have any leaves, I will be watching this over the next few months to see what happens to it - perhaps I need to go over in my wellies so I can wade in the water and get some close ups!

I’m SO glad that I decided to enter the WidWed Challenge and also that I went back out when the sun was shining - it made such a difference although I have to say, the wind is still quite chilly.
