Newt suit

A travel day; train to Aberdeen. Went to investigate the Maritime Museum, which is just opposite the harbour. Only somewhat accessible - I had a heavy wheeled bag with me and there are no luggage lockers - so I didn't see Provost Ross's House which is adjacent.
The focus is the history of shipping, fishing, and most significantly the North Sea oil business; they manage to give a strong sense of the boom and bust pattern of the city, first for Baltic trade, then for the herring and cod years, then for oil. Most recently there is support for offshore wind energy and other renewables business.

The Newt suit is for pressure diving. The first extra is two Remotely Operated Vehicles for manipulating and inspection of pipelines and rigs; the little ROV strung above the big one can be operated inside a big pipe.

From there to the airport by 727 bus; then a hire car to the Aberdeenshire house. It was misty when I left Edinburgh; it had all cleared off to be sunny with grand cloud towers in the early afternoon. Walked round the circuit when I got here, ahead of the deliveries. There's garden maintenance to do and people to see ..
