30BY40 EXHIBITION

This is a tradition in Prince Albert and is a popular event in our village calender. Anyone can enter. The pictures must all be 30 by 40 and unsigned. A system of secret bidding is used and the paintings with two red stickers or more are then auctioned off the the highest bidder. It is possible to buy a painting by a well known artist for as little as the starting price of R550. There is usually brisk bidding if the work of a well known artist is recognized and of course sometimes these competitive bidders get it wrong! The names of the artists are revealed when the paintings are sold.
I was very pleased by the response to my painting. People were intrigued by it. We did not stay for the auction as we had SO much to do in preparation for the Art in the Garden on Sunday. It was bought by a local lady who has a few of my paintings.
