Leaf loss……
It is ANZAC Day here today. This is a day, every year, when both Australia and New Zealand commemorate those men and women who have lost their lives as a result of war. It is 110 years today since the catastrophic landings of our troops in Gallipoli near the beginning of the First World War. We remember the event in services up and down New Zealand. We will never forget.
The poplar tree leaves have faded in colour and dropped almost overnight. The willows are not too far behind. At least this is my impression. One day they are quite golden and the next their colours have dulled down. I wonder if this sudden leaf drop occurs in other parts of the country.
This view is of the river….. now with water running in it …… just downstream from the Burleigh Bridge early this morning.
