In the mid-level garden
When the retaining wall (made of Ponga logs leaning against the bank) was replaced, we ended up with a series of planting bins between the path and the wall; the lower level garden. The middle level is a flat area about a metre higher than the path and about the same in depth back to the upper portion of retaining wall. The vireya is planted there; and is doing very well thank you kindly.
This morning I noticed a Kereru near the entry to our drive. Got the camera and went out; by then the Kereru had gone. Next I saw a couple of Piwakawaka (Fantails) flitting about. As soon as I pointed the camera in their general direction, they went away.. The photo of the Vireya became a fall-back.
Visited this afternoon by daughter C and Mr H, bringing Anzac biscuits in honour of the Battle of Gallipoli. Our absentee Prime Minister (Christopher Luxon) is attending the service at Gallipoli. Although I've not counted I believe that he's been out of Aotearoa/New Zealand more than here since he became PM.
