A walk in the park
is a good way to start my
day - every day!

I was on my way to McArthur Island in morning sunshine at 7. It's already 'late' for me as activity there was heating up. Lots of walkers and cyclists were moving about and the baseball teams were arriving for warm ups and practice. I'm thinking there must be a tournament on this weekend.
I focused on the area around the Butterfly Garden and the footbridge on the north side of the island. The slough on that side is not much more than two ugly puddles at the moment. I feel sorry for the waterfowl that are making some use of it. The Canada geese with all their noise and nonsense were dominating the space this morning. I spotted my favourite duck, the wood duck. Then, I saw an American Widgeon making the most plaintive cries before it soared over the footbridge and was gone. Beside the slough I spotted a Brewer's Blackbird female, very elegant in grey. She was escorted by her mate, a glossy black with a piercing yellow eye.
I was surprised to find a few spring flowers in the garden. It is really for the butterfly season which hasn't yet arrived. Marmots popped up here and there to amuse me.
I got a view into the slough looking west from the footbridge, then crossed to catch a look back at my mountains in the east.
I must go pay for my car insurance today. Otherwise, the day is mine.
