Yellow Shoes

If there’s nothing in the blip can at 4pm then desperation takes over and my yellow shoes take centre stage. I lusted after these shoes displayed in Begg’s shoe shop in Kirkwall during my summer holiday in Orkney in 2022. The day before I left for home I bought them and the next day I missed a step getting off the ferry in Aberdeen and broke my ankle in 2 places. The shoes were relegated to the back of the wardrobe while my footwear was a moon boot and later comfortable trainers. From time to time in the intervening years they have been brought out and tried on but my ankle wasn’t keen on their lack of support. Fast forward 3 years and I found them this afternoon tried them on and they now feel  as comfy as they did in the shop 3 years ago.

Otherwise, my day has been one of sloth and idleness. I spent much of the morning meeting with a couple of friends I hadn’t seen this year and then this afternoon there were the TGIF drinks but there were only two of us as the others had had a better offer.

On my phone I have an App which lets me know which nearby restaurants have food to give away at closing time and which would otherwise go to waste. I signed up for a goody bag from the Canopy Restaurant today and collected it at 5:30 . Soup, sandwiches, wraps and roasted vegetables were carried home with all the satisfaction of a female hunter gatherer.
