King of All He Surveys

This herring gull seemed more interested in watching the contents spill from  plastic bags of food waste left on the pavement by the many eateries on GeorgeIVBridge than on the passing humans. While he had made the journey up from the beach I was starting my journey down. Today was a good bus day,  I made it at the allotted hour and 7 of us enjoyed a swim in a calm sea. My handstands were not the best - I should have had my Weetabix as the advert goes!

I was wakened from a dream about 4:30 am this morning by what sounded like faint music. My initial reaction was to think I had somehow left my lap top open or my phone, my second thought was I had developed tinnitus and my third thought was that I was going mad. After 2or 3 minutes it all stopped and now I’m wondering if someone was playing the bagpipes in the middle of the Meadows at that unearthly hour and I wasn’t just ‘hearing things’.

The sun has decided to come out to play this afternoon and people are gathered on the Meadows. If only the wind would change from the east, it might feel really warm, but I’m not complaining - sunshine makes me cheerful and hopeful. It also makes the cherry blossom on the line of trees bordering the long path over to Marchmont look stunning
