The heights of folly

We had a nine mile walk today, out from Craven Arms and up onto Callow Hill to visit Flounders' Folly. The folly is a 24 metre high tower built in 1838 at the highest point on Wenlock Edge. The views are spectacular, taking in the Brecon Beacons, the Black Mountains, the Malvern Hills, the Clee Hills, the Shropshire Hills. My blip from the top features the Long Mynd, the Stretton Hills and the Wrekin. We walked back alongside the Quinny Brook and the river Onny, accompanied by lots of Orange Tip butterflies.
