Musing of a Lady

Special Visit

Today has been special. Maria came round for coffee and a chat. Maria and her husband, Bart, as well as their children, lived in Uganda when I was a teenager. I don't often get the chance to meet with friends from my teenage years¹. So getting to spend a few hours with Maria was good for my soul. I was able to share about what happened with my ex-husband and the abuse I experienced, amongst other things. It made me realise just how grateful I am that Little Man and I were able to escape. We're in a safe place and have a community of amazing, loving people around us. I am on the road to healing. Little Man is becoming more and more himself. His joy and happiness is contagious.

The rest of our day has been quiet. The weather has been lovely so Little Man spent most of the day running around in a t-shirt and a nappy. I'm attempting to get him potty trained so am trying out a suggestion that was given to me (underwear under his nappy). Fingers crossed it works.

¹Most of the people who I was friends with during my childhood still live in Uganda or have returned to their homeland (mainly the US) or don't want anything to do with me because I don't agree with or approve of their toxic behaviour.
