Umbrella?

This wee waxeye seemed to be using the apple quarter I put out on my 'bird-feeding tree' as an umbrella.

If you look closely you can see his wee brush tongue poking out (excuse the graininess in large - it's taken through the window again). Their tongue is brush tipped to aid them in sipping nectar - their preferred food. But they happily eat ripe/overripe fruit and anything sweet you put out - including jam and bread.
