We live in a small village on the outskirts of Chester le Street. The Waggonway bus service was once the route of the old fashioned Waggonways that used to carry coal from collieries around Beamish. The buses on our route are decorated with pictures of coal trains. This service also calls off at Beamish Museum which is an open air museum and tells the story of life in the North East of England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times. Many of the houses and shops in the Museum have been taken from their original site, rebuilt and furnished within the Museum.
After all of that rambling, here you have a typical miner's lamp from times gone by ...
