Tribute to Vivian Meier

700th blip is as good occasion to get philosophical as any, I suppose.

Most excellent fellow blipper Kendallishere has introduced me (and many others) to the brilliant and enigmatic photographer Vivian Meier. The million dollar question regarding Ms. Meier is this: why does someone take over 100,000 pictures, doesn't develop most of them due to lack of funds, yet keeps taking them anyway???

I am not Vivian Meier, therefore I cannot answer this question with 100% certainty. Yet I think my theory is quite good:

She kept taking pictures because of that moment right before one presses the shutter, the moment when one SEES so much more than when does not hold a camera in their hand. Perhaps she took the pictures because she didn't want to miss anything, and pointing and shooting kept her on her seeing toes.

This is why I take them in any case. It would be nice to think I have SOMETHING in common with the great Vivian Meier... :-) :-) :-)

Regarding the photo: VM excelled at street photography. Due to ridiculously high temperature, the streets were completely deserted. This store front caught my eye, as it reflected the stately bank across the street so well. The panes are all dusty as the business is no longer there...
