Pout
This picture captured little A's last happy moment of the evening, sadly.
Miss Defiance decided to test our limits repeatedly tonight. Starting from throwing food while giving you the defiant look, to throwing her fork and pushing her entire bowl off the table (thank goodness I caught it) after coming back from a brief time-out, we decided it's time to step it up with her.
For the first time, we had to remove her from the dining table, and brought her upstairs back into her own room. Only after the room was closed with just me and her in it did she realize the severity of her offence and the consequence. After many many minutes of crying, she calmed down enough for us to explain things to her. Yet she refused to acknowledge some of my statements by turning her gaze elsewhere. I don't even know if we actually "got to her".
I'm at a loss as to how to parent this smart, stubborn little monkey. Locking horns with her drains the life out of me, and I really hope I don't have to do this too often.
Perhaps this is the beginning of her 'Terrible 2"?
