Optimistic Moments

Grandma's kitchen

2h of Mandarin lessons in the morning and 2h in the afternoon. Quite intense but I still didn't feel like I've learnt anything.

So what I did learn is that there's a subway a 15min walk away from campus. Went there for lunch...it was wonderful.

After class a group of us attempted to go to a tea house for some traditional tea. We found one quite near the uni and went in. They immediately sat us down and gave us small teacups filled with tea and some fruit before we could ask for a menu. Turns out drinking tea in a teahouse is a lot more expensive than what the guidebook said so the 10 of us awkwardly all got up and left. Instead we headed to Grandma's kitchen, a restaurant where the above was taken. On the table was a spinny plate which all the dishes are put on and you turn it to take some food from a different dish. It was this that created the mirror effect in the photo.
