A day to be thankful and to celebrate.
Early this morning Maria received a text from York university telling her that she had qualified for her conditional place there to study English Literature and Linguistics.
She was overyjoyed as were Paul and me.
Many phone calls were made to family and friends so they could share the joy. Maria's friend Izzy is also going to York, so I feel glad she will not be alone as she leaves Lancashire and goes to the White Rose county!
Then we drove to St. Mary's College in Blackburn to collect the results.
Knowing she had secured her place had taken a lot of the heat and worry out of the situation and it made for a stress free journey to college.
God moves in wondrous ways.
She gained A A B for Sociology, English Language and English Literature A Level and an additional in - house certificate in Leadership.
I could not be more thankful things have turned out so well after all Maria's conscientious effort.
She is a quiet hard working girl with a wonderful sense of humour, enjoys socialising, is a great Aunty to Corey and Tyler and a fantastic daughter.
I will miss her, but going to York is a well deserved opportunity to study for her degree and then go into publishing or journalism, a path that has always been her ambition.
As a special treat, we went to Ikea near Warrington, and got a few nice things for her room at uni.
A new duvet set, a cork noticeboard, wardrobe hanging storage with space for shoes etc.
The Puffin books wall paper at Ikea in the centre of my blip appealed to Maria as she is fond of reading.
She was really happy to just wander there and if we had a branch in Blackburn, she would have loved to work there.
Afterwards, we went to Huntley's at Samlesbury, for a treat ice cream.
The giant orf fish and peacock were in the garden area.
It has been a humid day, 24 degrees again, but one I will treasure and look back on as a special turning point in our lives.
Have a wonderful Thursday blipper friends.
