The Black Pearl

The Black Pearl is a pirate ship made from driftwood and other materials picked up in and around New Brighton, Wirral. Even the flags were picked up in Vale Park following an England defeat.

This is the second ship to be built. The first, built by a local artist, Frank Lund, and his friend and neighbout Major C Mace, was destroyed by vandals who burned it down in May this year. It had become a popular landmark and there was great community anger that it had been destroyed and a determination to help the two men re-build the boat.

It is a super piece which has been beautifully constructed. The atmosphere among the children and adults who were enjoying it today was wonderful to experience.
