Priming The Pump . . .

It's a long time since this pump, on the wall outside the kitchen of a deserted farmhouse, has been used. I tried it . . . first, a loud grating noise; followed by a dull clunk, then it seized up . . . I whistled softly and moved along . . .a cow in the next field mooed in harmony . . . just another day in the country . . .
