Commemoration WW II

Old POW's from the Japanese camps in Indonesia and or their offspring at the memorial Indië Monument in Den Haag finding a seat for the annual commemoration.
This year it was the 25th commemoration at this monument that was realised more than 40 years after the end of WW II. For many surviving POW's of the Japanese camps in Asia this late acknowledgement of their WW II years in peril with the loss of many of their relatives and friends was and is a painful memory.
However now this commemoration is a welcome and respected day with meet-ups and sharing memories and emotions. Many children and grandchildren come in the name of their forefathers and -mothers. I also saw young children under the age of 10 so the memory and commemoration of their great-grandparents suffering will continue with this new generation; that's a good sign to me.
