Enchanted forest

It was our last day at our holiday cottage so we decided to make the most of it. Following an early breakfast and mad dash to pack up the cars and sign out we spent a good hour splashing around in the swimming pool and then went for a last walk in the foothills of the Cairn Gorm. Despite a wet forecast we managed to have a wonderful walk with the boys on bikes and the dogs getting plenty of exercise running between them. There were trees to climb, a lochan to splash round in and throw sticks for the dogs to swim for and the ever present lure of the heathery mounds to explore. I took a number of photos but really loved this one with the sunlight filtering through the statuesque Scots pines catching and highlighting the mounds of blaeberries and heather on the forest floor. It was a fabulous end to a wonderful holiday.

A couple of hours later we unloaded three tired boys and two wet dogs at my house for the next stage of their holiday.
