Pafuri

We took a very corrugated road from Punda Maria heading towards Pafuri. I&S will know exactly the type of road I mean when they think of the Kalagadi.

Anyway, in between the ruts and rattles we stopped at a couple of watering holes to play eye spy. At the fourth there was already a car parked so we did the right thing and switched the trucks engine off. When there was nothing to spy, we decided to head off for more promising spots.

One turn of the ignition produced nothing, not even a whine. Repeating the action resulted in nothing and panic set in. We are in the middle if nowhere with a deid car! First thought, we are fine as we had brought all our food with us after yesterday's little adventure. Second, deid car, no aircon.

Venturing out in the knowledge that wild beasties were probably watching we discovered that one of the battery cables had not been properly tightened when the battery was replaced. The rutted road was enough to jiggle it loose.

Change of underwear later we were on our way to enjoy the splendors of Pafuri. It is a beautiful part of the park although we couldn't visit all of it because of damage caused by the floods, the bit we saw was well worth it.

Not so many beasties this far north but we saw lots of Elephant and countless Baobabs.

I wonder what adventure tomorrow will bring!
