Wild Carrot (or 'Queen Anne's Lace' in the USA) - Daucus carota

If you look closely at the umbels of Daucus carota, you will find that many of them have a small dark purple-red dot right at the centre. It is actually one of the flowers but is a non-conformist, preferring to sport the papal purple instead of the virgin white of the others.
