Fishing on the Luwangwa river...

After the long drive from Lilongwe we reached South Luwangwa mid afternoon at the Mfuwe sector of the park. We are staying right on the bank of the Luwangwa river and looking down from where our chalet is I saw these fishermen quite close to the bank. In the water with them were many hippo and crocodiles lined the sides of the bank! Rather them than me!

Am having a couple of days in South Luwangwa National Park - its a great place - one of my favourite game viewing sites in Southern Africa. The road from Malawi has been dramatically improved and this time next year should be tarmac the whole way which makes a great difference to the journey - the African massage was not as bad as usual!

To my surprise when I arrived at the lodge and we were greeted by the manager, we realised we knew each other about 15 years ago when I lived in Zomba in the south and he was running a lodge in Malawi! We had a great catch up in the evening!!
