Duck on a post

Phew! I'm pleased the weekend is over! We had 20 calves born over the weekend. That may not sound much, but for our herd it is heaps, especially when it comes to matching up mums and their calves. In that group of 20, a good number where first time mums who were absolutely useless at looking after their babies, and coming out of the paddock. Thank goodness we have two very fit boys to run around and chase them up when we get tired! The only other saving grace was the lovely warm weather we had during the weekend. Today it got to 21.6 degrees C this afternoon - tee shirt weather.

This morning while feeding out I noticed this Paradise Drake sitting on the fence post. Its breeding mate was just below it on the ground. Not long after I took this photo it flew away (obviously didn't like posing for the camera) with its mate, however, it wasn't until I downloaded the photo that I noticed the little present that it left on the post!
