Donna Nook

Look what we came across on the beach!
Woke to a beautiful day with wall to wall sunshine and blue, blue skies. So the beach it was. We went to Donna Nook having been thwarted earlier in the week as it is an area owned by the Ministry of defence and during the week the RAF practice their bombing skills. Good to know we are at the ready for any mission.
Anyway we walked the mile or so out to low tide across sea lavender and samphire (eaten regularly by locals here). At last we found the sea and could hear the wailing of seals --- and there were hundreds of them out basking in the sunshine. Even though we didn't go at all near, they heard? smelt us? and several took off for the sea.
What a fantastic sight it was. Hope you like it as well.
At the end of October this colony of seals comes right in shore to give birth. The pregnant cows cross the mile of sand and salt marsh to pup on dry land.
