Meadow Brown Butterfly all tattered and torn

No wonder this little butterfly rested up for ages on a choysia in my garden. It certainly looked as though it had been in the wars. Most of the butterflies in the garden seem to be large and small white and peacock butterflies, so I was pleased to see another species even though it was ragged. Little brave butterfly I say.
The weeds wild flowers have run truly wild since we have been away. I am currently waging war on the worst of them - convolvulus, rosebay willowherb and herb robert to name but three prolific species!
