Bum in the air
I had today's blip all picked out, ready to go. Then I walked into Charlie's room to check on him this evening and found him face down, with his bum high in the air. This quick snap doesn't do his posture justice- his little botty was off the mattress - but I just had to use it. Robin's away this evening and I always check on him more when it's just us.
Today it really hit me that my baby wasn't so babyish anymore. I'm sure when he's One I'll look back and laugh at this, but he seems like a real little boy now. We played outside this morning and in the sunshine he looked like he had a head full of hair. The hair wasn't a mirage, it is there, but as his blip pictures attest it's so fair and fine it's normally barely noticeable.
We went to check out the new Kiddicare that has opened in Enfield this morning too. I needed to get Charlie a bath seat as he keeps flipping onto his front in the tub and it gives me the willies! We used it this evening and again it looked strange to see him sat up and quite independent
Now he's sleeping like a little boy too. He used to lay flat on his back, arms up and out on each side. Then he graduated to lying on his side. He's now all over the place. He rotates 360 degrees across the evening and now flips over and lies face down - he doesn't even turn his head to lay on one cheek.
Maybe my realisation that we're over halfway to his first birthday has come as a result of today's trip to see a nursery. A new one is opening a few streets down. It's amazingly convenient for our commute and so even though I'd rather use a childminder I thought it was worth checking out. The nursery is already established in another building near Bowes Park, but the new site gives them twice the space.
The Acting Manager showed me around their current place. She looked younger than me. Things like that have never bothered me before but it was my first impression. She seemed nice enough, though she 'clicked' at Charlie as a way of getting his attention/playing I guess and it's a massive pet peeve. Plus she wasn't very good at answering some of my questions. There were a lot of positives too so I haven't ruled it out completely, but I didn't walk away filled with confidence. I'm now just dreading leaving him anywhere when I have to go back to work.
