Pier 70, Building 12

Now fallen into disrepair, San Francisco's Pier 70 was one of the vibrant shipbuilding centers of the West Coast for nearly a century. There is a movement afoot to breathe life into the historic brick buildings, creating a multi-use development for the 65 acre pier, while retaining reference to the original use of the site.
Today's pop-up Urban Air Market was the first time the area has been open to the public. Over a hundred local vendors of fashion and home goods, a gallery of artists who have their studios on the pier, a variety of food trucks and a beer garden filled this former industrial site; there were walking tours to some of the glorious old buildings, and lots of information about the potential development, which is many many years down the road.
This trio sounded terrific in the cavernous space. The lighting was dramatic, and the bones of this old structure were much admired.
