What's Up With Mustaches?

You see them everywhere. Tatoos, tshsirts, magnets, socks, mugs, stickers, bandaids, cards, journals....the list is long, my friends. And don't forget the fingerstache, where you draw a mustache on the length of your finger and hold it beneath your nose.

The folks at Magnolia Photo Booth record it all. They appear at various events in the Bay area with their delightful booth and a box of props--just jump in, push the button and in a flash you get your photo. For free. Their crowning achievement is the traveling booth that they built inside a VW bus, with the goal of driving around the country and making portraits of as many people as possible. They've been on and off the road for two years, covering more than 20,000 miles, and have created a charming book of their adventures. I am so taken with this project--it's so goofy and wonderful. Who doesn't smile when they see a photo booth? and who doesn't treasure those funny off kilter images that come out of the little slot in the machine? I would love to be on that bus.
