Growing old disgracefully

GLUT EXCHANGE

My neighbour grows prize dahlias, I grow cabbages. I'm not sure if I end up the poorer from the cross hedge exchanges. I like dahlias in the distance, but I dislike it when a swarm of earwigs emerge from them indoors. However, I am relieved to find someone to eat the cabbage!

It was a day of technology. First favourite Canadian grandson and I pooled his savings, his pocket money and our birthday gift. We found we had just enough to buy him his first laptop. I managed to prise him loose from it long enough to visit the Weaver's Cottage where he became absorbed in weaving technology. The Weaver explained how the complex swirling Paisley patterns were actually formed by tiny grid patterns like pixels. He did a spot of weaving and now he is cooking his favourite sausage casserole for supper. Super Gran gets another wee break.
