Day 7 Road Trip

this is a view form the gondola at "The Canyons" resort in Park City. This is the 2nd lift up to mid-mountain where you can either have a very nice lunch (not your usual mountain selection of chili and burgers), take your bike up the quad to the mountain top for a ride down, or take a hike. We lunched and road back down. Talked to a biker and learned there is a "Wasatch Mtn" trail that goes from Sundance, to Park City, to Salt Lake City... for a total trail of more tha 60n miles as a bird flies!

Anyhow this view overlooks a nice part of the valley. What you dont see is the big shopping center off to the left and the Park City itself which is off to the right. We were here last about 15 years ago... and much has changed including the shopping center and whole new neighborhoods. The winter olympics was here 7 years ago which also contributed to a building boom. Still, this a great outdoorsy place. Many bikers on the roads and lots of hikers and bikers in the mountains.

A very nice feature is that all the public transit is free! And we saw a free outdoor concert last night on the bottom slopes of Deer Valley featuring Mary Beth Maziarz! I would guess about 5 to 6 thousands locals and tourists showed up. You could tell the locals by their chairs, picnic baskets and bottles of wine. Tourists don't know what to bring, so we just showed up. She gave a very warm and personal performance. Many of the little kids in attendance were down front "dancing"!... it was all a big hit with those attending.


PS: I incorrectly labeled the photo from Day 2 of this trip. It is (correctly) Snow Canyon Park located just west of St. George, Utah.
