Wolfville

Real change in weather, and driving rain accompanied us on our fairly short journey to Wolfville, where once again we were royally entertained by friends - who know their area so well.

Visited Grand Pre, where Acadians reclaimed - over time - a huge tract of land, and built a successful, peaceful community. This peace, of course, didn't last, and there is a memorial church, with a statue of Evangeline of poetic fame (Longfellow?) in front of it, to commemorate the community, and a museum which tells the story of attacks on the area. (The land is still farmed, using the dyke system which was established all those years ago).

We also visited this fascinating harbour, which has an average high tide 30-35 feet!
