Steep climb

Today was the Shrivenham village fete, and as part of the fete they were doing church tower tours. It was a must bcz I have photographed the church tower from our house many times, so wanted to reciprocate. The initial climb were these steep narrow steps. For the photo I am pointing my camera upwards, so you are seeing the underside of the stairs above me. The spiral stairs took you up to the room in the tower from where they do the bell ringing from. From here there was a long ladder up to where the church clock was. From that level, 2 further steep ladders to the 10 church bells, and one final ladder to take you out onto the church roof. The views were amazing, including our garden, the fete at the recreation ground, Shrivenham house (huge local house occupied by a 'banker'), the 5 windmills, and even the bottom end of the White Horse on the ridgeway. I thought the church tower was the best bit of the fete.
