Winds, waves and birds!

We were due to visit Heimaey in the Westmann Isles, off the south coast of Iceland, but due to 30 knot winds and a 4-5 metre swell the visit was cancelled. We were due to disembark by tender, but the logistics of getting passengers in / out of the lifeboat made it impossible.

We sailed round the islands that we had been due to visit and took photographs from the side deck, getting damp in the process from the sea spray.

The birds were amazing as they flew at remarkable speeds past the ship. I had hoped to photograph puffins on the island and never dreamt that my would be in flight and at sea from the side of the ship!! They are such tiny birds and this is the picture cropped, not brilliant, but it will do for the time being, until I get something better (I hope)!!

We sailed on to Reykjavik so that we can be docked for the night, ready for an early start in the morning
