There's a party over there
Ah what a day! We weren't going to have a birthday party for Grace this year. Instead, we had invited two of her best friends for a play date. But a couple of days ago I decided to throw a surprise party for her and some of her classmates. It wasn't supposed to be a party actually, more of a play date in the village park. However, the sunny forecast changed and at the very last minute I had to book the village hall and stage an impromptu disco. We managed to keep it a complete surprise and her face when she arrived and all her friends jumped out from behind the chairs was a real picture. I though she was going to cry she was so overwhelmed. Then she burst into laughter and hugged everybody.
The kids had a good dance, played a few games and had some snacks. They haven't all been together for ages because of the school holidays and seemed to enjoy each other's company.
Afterwards, we had a family party for Grace back at the house which was also lovely. Grace said it was the best birthday ever and kept saying 'thank you...thank you!'
