furry purrer
one of three that wander around the garden until i chase them off - they might be lovely and furry and friendly, but they also have a tendency to hang around under the bird feeder with mouth open, and also prowl and yowl around in the undergrowth. neither habit is something i want to encourage! this one is the scardiest normally, but he was in such a lovely comfy spot in the sun at the edge of the border that he didn't move til i'd taken several shots ('scuse the grass, i didn't have a free hand to hold it out of the way).
interview (mentioned yesterday) went reasonably well, tho it is hard to defend your bad habits to someone who knows exactly what you're like to work with (yes, i do rant a lot and i do slag off crap copy and i do say out loud that i think the company needs a kick up the arse. but you know what? i also work bloody hard and am good at what i do and am very supportive of those around and above me who are supportive of me). the chap who i see as my main rival went in straight after me. anyway, they hope to make a decision this coming week, so at least i'll know soon enough.
more importantly, D's leaving do! no speeches in the office, which i was peeved about, tho in the end they were so late i got to run over to the pub and hear it anyway. F gave a nice speech about D, and D gave a nice one in return with a few choice anecdotes and lots of praise for all present. i'm gutted to see him go, tbh, he's been there all the time i have and has always been a good bloke to work with and latterly for - he's approachable and considerate and thoughtful and works harder than most in that place. and he loves a good piece of cake, so the chocolate gingerbread went down a treat! (unfortunately for the subs it went round the reporters, who mostly didn't bother to ask where it came from, tho some knew and said thanks.) he'll be missed, for sure.
finally escaped from work at 11pm to join the do more permanently, and discovered that i can actually laugh and talk and be normal. i'd almost forgotten how, it's been so long since i was out with people in a pub having a life. i think i surprised a few folk who have always seen me as being miserable and ranty and nothing more. more on that elsewhere...
