Today was a great wedding.
It seems these days that when photographers talk about amazing weddings, they usually follow it up with something like "the table details were beautiful" or "their theme was so cute". Yaaaaawn!! That's not my idea of what makes a wedding amazing! For me the things that make a wedding great are simple: great people, and real emotion.
Today's wedding had a lot of emotion, not over-the-top displays, but quiet and personal moments, tears here and there and lots of laughter and excitement. The groom's mother is very ill, and even a few days ago they weren't sure if she would make the wedding, but in the end she did, and it was clear that everyone was so happy that she could be there. The bride was most worried about holding it together as she walked up the aisle, so both her mum and dad walked with her to keep her calm. As the three of them reached the top of the aisle the groom had totally broken down in tears, and embraced them all in hugs so tight that it was hard to get a photo where you could even see who he was hugging! But I managed to get this one in the middle somewhere. A little bit blurry but that doesn't bother me in the slightest.
