Butter!
Today Ruby wanted to make butter! I wanted to make curry so we did both. We started with an empty jam jar and some double cream. Ruby shook the cream for around 2 minutes and wondered why it wasn't working as her arms were aching soooooo much. So I took over after 5 minutes I wondered why it wasn't working and why my wrists were aching sooooo much also ....time for the electric whisk! Finally we had home made butter. Lack of kitchen roll meant squeezing into toilet roll to extract the liquid from the butter alas it worked tasted yummy even if I had wet toilet tissue stuck in my teeth!
So on with the "children's curry" it's actually a Japanese curry didn't think they did curry but I followed the recipe to the letter and a couple of spoons of creme fresh to the children's with home made crispy chicken (that ruby hammered until flat and managed one fillet before more achy arms kicked in) and perfectly formed rice in bowl shapes. It went down a treat and all tummies were full, including the neighbours 5 year old who also polished off a portion after her roast dinner at home.
The evening followed a long awaited night with my hubby (who is currently in the middle of harvest thus making me; what's known as a 'harvest widow') watching super bad, an easy watching fairly funny film, whilst enjoying a bottle of wine followed by my fav G&T simply lush!
